STORY: Bertinet Bakery's 'fresher-for-longer sandwich-eat sourdough'

Authentic sourdough bread brand, Bertinet Bakery, is launching a category first artisan sliced sourdough recipe, with a softer ‘sandwich friendly’ texture that stays fresher for longer without additives or shelf-life-enhancing preservatives.

The next generation recipe is the first to open up the nutritional, gut-friendly and authentic foodie credentials of sourdough to the everyday mainstream bread consumer, offering them a healthy, artisan, all-natural bread, with a more accessible, softer eat that stays ‘more delicious for longer’.

The sourdough has been expertly crafted using revolutionary new baking methods - without any additional ingredients - just flour, water and sea salt to ensure premium quality taste and a clean recipe.

Bertinet Bakery’s market-first range will launch nationally across Waitrose, Ocado and Milk & More with the brand’s Seeded Sliced Sourdough 1.1kg and 500g loaves, followed by a roll-out of White and Malted Wheat variants in both 1kg and 500g formats.

Bertinet Bakery Managing Director, Dean Arbel, said: ‘We are delighted to launch this ground-breaking range, starting with our Seeded Sliced Sourdough this month. We have listened to our customers and the recipe has been carefully evolved to meet their desire for a healthy, better quality bread that works as well for sandwiches as it does for toast.

“Our ultimate mission is to give bread a good name and this launch is an exciting landmark for the category. Our sourdough supports a naturally improved gut health microbiome, which results in a better digestive health. Consumers are much more educated about bread now and due to Covid19, there is a stronger appreciation for provenance, baking methods, quality of ingredients.

“Shoppers are turning away from artificial preservatives that give unnatural length of shelf life. At Bertinet Bakery, we are passionate about a clean, natural and more honest bread that offers real health benefits – but let’s not forget – importantly delicious taste!”
