Fire Disrupts Production at Warburtons Bakery

A major fire at Warburtons’ Burnley bakery prompted a large emergency response after flames broke out within part of the production facility.

Fire crews were called to the site on Billington Road, with multiple appliances and aerial units attending the incident as smoke spread across the surrounding area. Firefighters remained at the bakery for several hours tackling the blaze and monitoring hotspots.

All staff were safely evacuated from the building and no injuries were reported.

The fire is believed to have affected part of the bakery’s manufacturing operation, although the full extent of the damage has yet to be confirmed. Investigations are now under way to establish the cause of the incident.

Warburtons said contingency plans were in place to minimise disruption to customers, with production support available from other bakeries within its national network.

The incident drew significant local attention, with nearby residents reporting thick smoke visible from across Burnley as emergency services worked to bring the situation under control.
