STORY: Hoxton Bakehouse expands
Founded by former chefs and husband-and-wife duo Florence Hellier and Darren Bland, Hoxton Bakehouse has been providing goods to top restaurants across the country since 2014.
What started as a small-scale production with nothing but a broken oven and an idea went on to Florence and Darren producing some of the best bread in the UK, and has now expanded to three fantastic bakeries in Winchester, Lymington and Southampton.
Their popular Southampton branch has recently closed and is reopening at a new home - bigger and better. They now also have two new locations on the horizon and Petersfield and Bishop's Waltham will both open before the end of the year.
Hoxton Bakehouse supples more than 60 hotels and restaurants including Angela Hartnett’s Lime Wood, Chewton Glen, The Pig, Four Seasons, River Cottage and The Greyhound on the Test, Stockbridge – who can't get enough of their ‘damn good, no nonsense’ bread.
During lockdown, like many other businesses trying to survive, the bakery pivoted to home delivery; the reputation of their exceptional quality and flavour proceeded them and the team struggled to keep up with local demand. A ‘Weekend Box’ including a Country loaf, bread flour, free range eggs, brioche buns and cinnamons buns was added to the home delivery range, as well as the ‘Pastry and Coffee Gift Box’, alongside their popular bread, pastries and larder products.
For those who didn’t quite master sourdough during lockdown, they will now offer Sourdough Bread Classes too.
