Hill Biscuits named ‘Large Business of the Year’ at the

Tameside Business Awards 2024

Manchester, UK - Hill Biscuits is absolutely delighted to be named the winner of this year’s ‘Large Business of the Year’ at the 2024 Tameside Business Awards. This is fantastic recognition of the company’s employees, achievements and overall performance in recent years, inspiring further positivity for the future.

Founded as a small Manchester shop in 1855, Hill Biscuits has been based at its impressive Ashton-under-Lyne facility since the 1890s. In that time, the company has become synonymous with quality products that have remained true to their original recipes from the very early days. And with a range that includes the likes of Bourbon Fingers, Fruit Shorties, Gingerbread Men, Coconut Rings and the biggest range of Custard Creams in the UK, there’s certainly a biscuit for everyone.

The company is enjoying a rewarding period of success, having achieved a 50% growth in 2023, as well as projections set to rise further in 2024 and beyond. The newly appointed Senior Management Team, comprising CEO Frank Bird, Operations Director Simon Worth, CFO Brendon Ward-Banner and Commercial Director Tracey Meadows, is now overseeing substantial investment plans in order to expand current capacity.

Mark Swainson, HR Manager at Hill Biscuits who attended the evening commented; “A hugely enjoyable evening with winning the big award as the icing on the cake, or biscuit I should say! We are incredibly grateful for this recognition and extend our heartfelt thanks to our amazing team, loyal customers, and supportive community for their continued trust and commitment. This award inspires us to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence and innovation in everything we do. Thank you.”

Always looking to do business in the RIGHT way

Key to the future profile of the company is an emphasis on ethical and sustainable practices. Hill Biscuits recently achieved an AA* Certification from the British Retail Consortium and are members of a number of important bodies, including:

  • Rainforest Alliance
  • Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil
  • Sedex
  • The Vegetarian Society

In addition, the company only uses Forest Stewardship Council recyclable cardboard.

The awards ceremony was held at the Village Hotel in Ashton Moss at the end of March, and Hill Biscuits were one of many organisations in attendance. Always keen to support the local business community, the company was also happy to sponsor the evening’s Community Impact Business of the Year Award.
